In India kings fought for dharma, If one king found out that other king was cruel and not doing the right thing for the masses and following his duties, There was war to remove that king and establish Dharma-The right order.
Many wars are fought for land, for resources just to satisfy greed of a king for power. Chandra Gupta maurya fought for righteousness and to restore respect of his Guru.
Shivaji Maharaj was the first person who coined the concept of nationalism and war was fought for Swaraj. It was a First war of Independence. Hence this Idea of Independence is also born in India and father of it is Shivaji. World should know about this history of our great kings and our motherland.
Ideology of national identity and nationalism by consolidating the various states was even exists at the time of king Bharat, ancestor of Lord Ram who became chakravarty followed by Lord Ram and others through Ahwamegh yagna. Later on nation disintegrated and again Chandragupt Mourya under guidance of Chankya consolidated it.
ReplyDeleteRamrajya was world government. At that time world was one. There was no concept of countries. Concept of Rajya was there and it meant realm of a particular king. Like today we have political leader or representative of a constituency. Even Ravana was bounded in the same moral code as Rama. He knew his duties, he knew what was right and he was a great king. Christianity and Islam is under different moral code.
